MDS MEMBER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Siddhartha Mukherjee has been elected to the National Academy of Medicine
Congratulations to Siddhartha Mukherjee, MD, for his election to the National Academy of Medicine. Dr. Mukherjee is recognized for contributing important research in the immunotherapy of myeloid malignancies, such as Acute Myeloid Leukemia, for establishing international centers for immunotherapy for childhood cancers, and for the discovery of tissue resident stem cells. His book, “The Emperor of All Maladies”, won the Pulitzer Prize and was nominated by Time as among the century’s 100 most influential books, introducing millions to modern cancer research.

Stavroula Kousteni new R01 grant
Stavroula was recently rewarded a new R01 grant (R01AG080142) from the National Institute of Aging entitled “Molecular Mechanisms of MDS pathogenesis with aging”
Tannishtha Reya new award
Tannishtha just received Tumor Biology and Microenvironment Program Pilot Award for the period of 07/01/23 to 06/30/24 entitled “Targeting Stem Cell Pathways in Early-Stage Myeloid Malignancies.” Stavroula will be the co-investigator.
