• Pathologist, who examines tissue and fluid to look for changes in cells in order to classify a tumor’s stage and look for markers that will help your care team determine the best course of treatment for you.
• Geneticist, who identifies your risk for inherited syndromes that cause thyroid cancer.
• Nuclear medicine specialist, who uses radioactive isotopes to diagnose thyroid cancer.
• Anesthesiologist, a part of the surgery team who administers anesthesia, including sedation or local anesthetic, prior to surgery.
• Ophthalmologist, who specializes in diseases of the eye. Your eyes can become involved with some types of thyroid cancer.
