Profile Headshot

Overview

Jing Fu, PhD,is an assistant professor of medical sciences in the department of medicine (division of hematology/oncology) at Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She received her PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology from Peking University in Beijing, China, and completed her postdoctoral training at the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute. Since then, she has focused her research on cancer immunotherapy.

Dr. Fu's work has been supported by prestigious funding sources, including the NIH/NCI R01, the Department of Defense Rare Cancers Research Program, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Translational Research Award, and the International Myeloma Society Paula and Rodger Riney Foundation Translational Research Award. Her research has resulted in over 19 peer-reviewed publications in leading journals, including Nature Communications, Blood, The Journal of Clinical Investigation, Cancer Research, and Leukemia, among others.

Dr. Fu's research centers on the development of novel immunotherapies and the elucidation of molecular mechanisms driving multiple myeloma and AL amyloidosis. As a member of the Columbia University Multiple Myeloma and AL Amyloidosis Program, she conducts translational research aimed at improving treatment options for patients with these complex hematologic malignancies. Her work includes the development of cutting-edge therapies that harness the immune system to target AL amyloid fibrils, utilizing novel antibody-based approaches, engineered phagocytic cells, and bispecific molecules designed to enhance phagocyte recruitment and function, ultimately facilitating the removal of toxic amyloid deposits. In addition, Dr. Fu investigates key signaling pathways and molecular drivers of treatment resistance, immune suppression, and bone disease in multiple myeloma, with the goal of identifying new therapeutic targets for precision medicine.

By integrating molecular biology with cancer immunology, Dr. Fu’s research aims to deepen our understanding of disease biology while accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into clinically meaningful advances.
